Primary & Urgent Care
Primary and urgent care are essential aspects of healthcare that focus on diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions. Telemedicine has become a valuable tool in providing these services, offering convenience and accessibility for patients.
Primary care involves comprehensive and continuous care, including routine check-ups, chronic condition management, and preventive care. Telemedicine allows primary care providers (PCPs) to offer virtual consultations, making it easier for patients to discuss health concerns, receive follow-up care, and manage ongoing health issues from the comfort of their homes. This approach fosters a long-term relationship between patients and their PCPs, ensuring consistent and coordinated care. Urgent care addresses immediate, non-life-threatening medical needs such as minor injuries, infections, and sudden illnesses. Telemedicine can be used for urgent care consultations, allowing patients to quickly connect with healthcare professionals for evaluation and treatment. This is particularly useful for situations where patients need prompt attention but cannot visit a clinic in person, such as after hours or during travel.
By incorporating telemedicine into primary and urgent care, healthcare providers can deliver timely and appropriate medical attention, improve access to care, and enhance patient convenience, all while maintaining high-quality healthcare services.

Kind Health offers fully remote, telemedicine-based addiction services. The DEA permits certified providers to prescribe buprenorphine (Suboxone) through telemedicine without requiring an initial in-person visit. This applies to both existing and new patients. However, please note that some states require a yearly in-person visit to continue receiving addiction treatment via telemedicine. For more information, please visit our in-person clinics page.

A Kind Health MOUD visit is priced at $99 (not including medication costs) per month and can be done through video or telephone. If the provider decides that MOUD is suitable for you, they will provide a prescription. The cost of the medication will vary based on the pharmacy you use and your insurance plan.
During the first month, you will be charged an additional $50 (total $149) which will cover your 7 day follow up appointment as well as the initial set up fees. After the initial visit, you will charged a fee of $99 on every visit to cover the next month's appointment. -
Kind Health providers do not prescribe Subutex unless you have a documented medical allergy, and medical documentation can be provided.
If there is no record of a previous prescription in the prescription monitoring system or if we are unable to contact your previous prescriber, Kind Health providers will prescribe Suboxone when it is considered medically appropriate.

Kind Health's MOUD programs are governed by strict rules set by the DEA, including a prohibition on early refills.
We recommend scheduling an appointment several days before your medication runs out to avoid last-minute issues with the pharmacy. However, we cannot authorize refills earlier than the grace period allowed by your pharmacy, typically between 1-3 days.
In summary, we cannot authorize early refills for the following reasons:
Lost or stolen medications
Exceeding the prescribed and authorized amount
Travel-related early refills
To address travel-related issues, we suggest the following:
If you know your travel plans in advance, ask your doctor to prescribe less than a month's supply so that your refill date does not coincide with your travel dates. This will allow you to get a refill shortly before your trip.

Although tianeptine is not classified as an opioid, it binds to and acts as an agonist at the mu-opioid receptor, similar to the action of opioid drugs. According to an article in the Journal of Addiction Medicine, "Chronic daily use of tianeptine may represent tianeptine use disorder, which can have a clinical course similar to opioid use disorder, including the development of impaired control, functional impairment, tolerance, and withdrawal." It suggests that medications used for opioid use disorder, such as buprenorphine, may be appropriate for managing tianeptine use disorder. Kratom dependency and addiction can also be effectively treated with buprenorphine (Suboxone) as on high doses, Kratom tends to function very similar to an opioid rather than a stimulant.

If your provider deems you need to undergo drug testing (urine/blood/swab), then a requisition for labs will be sent to Quest Diagnostics/LabCorp. You will simply go to the laboratory and give a sample. The results will be sent directly to Kind Health. Please note that drug screenings are tool we use to provide better care and are not meant to be a penalizing aspect of care. In certain states, providers are mandated by law to regularly test patients. In those cases, you will be informed of your responsibility as a patient and the requirements for treatment as mandated by the state you live in.
